Install Toneful

Download Toneful, run the installer, and grant the permissions Toneful needs to talk to your MIDI keyboard and audio device.

Download the installer

Grab the latest macOS build from the Download page. The installer is signed and notarized; macOS may take a moment to verify it on first launch.

Install

  1. Open the downloaded .dmg.
  2. Drag the Toneful app into your Applications folder.
  3. Eject the disk image.
  4. Launch Toneful from Applications.

Grant permissions

The first time Toneful launches it will ask for two permissions:

  • MIDI access: to receive notes from your keyboard.
  • Audio device access: to render sound out of your speakers or interface.

Both prompts come from macOS itself. Click Allow on each.

Run a Sound Check

Before your first session, run Settings → Audio → Sound Check. Toneful will play a short tone through your output device so you can confirm everything's wired up.
